Tropical Storm warning, watch continues in North Carolina

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) – A storm is shifting off the North Carolina coast however forecasters say the prospect of it turning into tropical are dropping.

The Nationwide Climate Service issued a tropical storm warning from Surf Metropolis to Duck alongside the Outer Banks.

A tropical storm watch is in impact from Little River, South Carolina, to Surf Metropolis. The tropical storm watch has been canceled from Georgetown, South Carolina, to Little River.

At 5 a.m., the storm was about 70 miles (one hundred kilometers) southwest of Wilmington. Highest winds have been forty mph (65km/h). The storm is shifting northeast about 12 mph (19 km/h).

Forecasters say the storm is predicted to maneuver alongside the North Carolina coast Tuesday earlier than heading out to sea Tuesday night time.

The system might deliver as much as three inches of rain to japanese North Carolina and Virginia.
