Steelworkers, Goodyear reach tentative contract for 5 plants

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) – The United Steelworkers and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. have reached a tentative contract settlement that covers about 7,000 staff at 5 crops.

Goodyear says the 5-yr settlement covers staff at crops in Fayetteville, North Carolina; Akron, Ohio; Danville, Virginia; Gadsen, Alabama; and Topeka, Kansas.

The settlement was reached late Saturday night time, simply earlier than union officers stated staff have been able to go on strike.

Goodyear officers stated in a information launch that they anticipate native unions to schedule ratification votes within the subsequent few weeks.

Employees consultant Ken Nettles of USW Native 959 in Fayetteville tells The Fayetteville Observer that staff do not but know the phrases of the tentative settlement.

Negotiations started June thirteenth and have been held in Cincinnati, Ohio.
