LAMAR, S.C. (AP) – A police chief in South Carolina has been charged with taking proof from a police locker.
The State Regulation Enforcement Division stated Wednesday that Lamar Police Chief Jason Michael Chaney can also be charged with submitting a false report.
SLED warrants say Chaney eliminated two bottles containing hydrocodone and codeine in June and altered a report back to cowl the lacking medicine.
Chaney is charged with two counts of theft of a managed substance, two counts of misconduct in workplace and one rely of submitting a false report.
His lawyer, Rose Might Parham, stated Chaney is harmless and appears ahead to showing in courtroom.
Chaney is on depart from the police division. Lamar Mayor Randy Reynolds says he requested the SLED investigation.
Lamar is about fifty five miles (ninety kilometers) east of Columbia.
