The information launch, posted on the Pink Lake Tribal Council Fb web page, addressed a decision handed by the council on Wednesday opening fishing on Higher and Decrease Purple Lake, two months after two fishermen disappeared there.
After the decision was handed, the tribe acquired inquiries from non-members about fishing on the lakes.
“The Tribal Council’s current decision didn’t increase the people who’re permitted to fish the water of Pink Lake Reservation past Pink Lake tribal members,” the discharge stated.
The Pink Lake Reservation is a closed reservation and the tribal council controls all actions on reservation land and waters. A small portion of Higher Purple Lake is situated outdoors the boundaries of the reservation; non-members might fish there.
