NY DMV encourages drivers to get REAL ID

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The New York Division of Motor Automobiles is encouraging drivers to get the REAL ID.

Based on the DMV, New Yorkers wishing to fly inside the USA utilizing their New York State issued license or ID card will want a REAL ID or Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL) after the October 1, 2020 federal deadline.

Normal state licenses, which can now be marked Not for Federal Functions, will not be accepted after the federal deadline with out a further type of identification, like a passport.

Getting a REAL ID is rather like getting an ordinary New York State license or non-driver ID. The fee is identical, however it requires candidates to make a visit to their native DMV workplace to get a photograph taken and current the required proof paperwork.

The DMV created a software that outlines what is required to acquire a REAL ID.
