Keith Jackson, sportscaster with ‘Whoa, Nelly! call, dies


SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. — Keith Jackson, the down-house voice of school soccer throughout greater than 5 many years as a broadcaster, has died. He was 89.

He died Friday and no trigger was given in a press release Saturday by ESPN. Jackson’s longtime employer was ABC Sports activities.

Jackson coated many sports activities, however he was greatest recognized for school soccer. His signature phrases like “Whoa, Nelly!” gave his recreation calls a well-known really feel.

Jackson retired after the 2006 Rose Bowl and is a member of the Sports activities Broadcasting Corridor of Fame.

Jackson was a longtime resident of Sherman Oaks, California, and Pender Harbor, British Columbia. He’s survived by his spouse of sixty three years, Turi Ann.
