John Powell named chief of Glynn County police after 4 months in interim role


BRUNSWICK, GA. | John Powell, interim Glynn County police since Sept. 1, turned the everlasting chief Tuesday, the county stated.

Powell assumed the formal position of chief simply two days in need of his second anniversary with Glynn County having joined the county Jan. four, 2016, as director of Group Providers. In that position, Powell managed and supervised the operations of the Hearth Division, emergency administration providers, Emergency Administration/Homeland Safety, animal providers and the Recreation and Parks Division.

“I’m proud to announce the choice of John Powell because the chief of the Glynn County Police Division,” County Supervisor Alan Ours stated in a written assertion. “As interim chief, Mr. Powell has proven distinctive management throughout this time of transition whereas directing the division by means of Hurricane Irma and facilitating the operations and administration research being accomplished by the Worldwide Affiliation of Chiefs of Police.”

He holds a bachelor’s diploma in Felony Justice and Masters of Public Administration and has been director of the Florida Division of Alcoholic Drinks and Tobacco’s Division of Enterprise and Skilled Regulation. He additionally has served as a marketing consultant in regulation enforcement, public security and safety on the native, nationwide and worldwide degree, the county stated.
