Intracoastal bridges to close; others to follow soon


Based mostly on deteriorating circumstances and knowledge from the Nationwide Climate Service, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Workplace began closing the 4 bridges over the Intracoastal Waterway — Wonderwood Expressway; Atlantic Boulevard; Seashore Boulevard; and J. Turner Butler Boulevard. They are going to be closed in each instructions concurrently.

The bridges won’t re-open till the storm has subsided and required inspections have occurred and seashores infrastructure is taken into account protected, in response to Officer Melissa J. Bujeda, Sheriff’s Workplace spokeswoman.

Working with the Florida Freeway Patrol, the Sheriff’s Workplace expectsto shut the Dame Level Bridge and Buckman Bridge within the close to future. The Sheriff’s Workplace will comply with up with additional notifications as these bridges are closed.

JSO will proceed to watch the opposite excessive profile bridges: Mathews and Hart, and can notify the general public of these closures once they occur.
