Dove apologizes for Facebook soap ad that many call racist


NEW YORK (AP) — Dove is dealing with warmth for a physique wash advert displaying a black lady taking off her shirt to disclose a white lady, with many social media customers calling it racist.

The corporate stated Saturday it regrets the offense brought on by the advert. It says it “missed the mark in representing ladies of shade thoughtfully.” It has eliminated the submit from its Fb web page.

The advert was a gif displaying a black lady taking off her brown shirt to disclose a white lady, who then took off her lighter-coloured shirt, revealing a lady of colour in a barely darker shirt.

Circulating broadly on-line is a gaggle of 4 pictures from the advert displaying solely the black lady turning into the white lady.

Dove is owned by British-Dutch firm Unilever.
