Class ring lost on Cape Cod 47 years ago returned to owner

DENNIS, Mass. (AP) – A university class ring misplaced within the surf at a Massachusetts seashore almost half a century in the past is again on the finger of its proprietor.

The Cape Cod Occasions ( ) stories that Patrick O’Hagan misplaced the Class of 1969 Manhattan School ring whereas on his honeymoon in Dennis in 1970.

James Wirth was in ankle-deep water at low tide on a Dennis seashore final month scanning together with his metallic detector when he discovered the corroded ring.

Monitoring down the proprietor was straightforward, as a result of O’Hagan’s full identify was inscribed on the ring, together with an “E” indicating he had studied engineering. Wirth returned the ring to O’Hagan at his Lengthy Island, New York, house earlier this month.
