Crews are battling a wildfire close to Lake Oroville in Butte County, Cal Hearth stated.

The grass hearth, dubbed the Ponderosa Hearth, broke out round 1:15 p.m. close to Ponderosa Method and Lumpkin Street, about 2 miles northwest of Forbestown, Cal Hearth stated. As of eleven p.m. Tuesday, the hearth grew to 1,000 acres with zero % containment.

Evacuations have been ordered for residents east of Lake Oroville.
