A 2011 BMW 535XI, pushed by Quoc Thanh Tran, 26, of Brooklyn Middle, was touring west within the eastbound lanes of I-ninety four east of Lowry Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. when it collided instantly head-on with an eastbound 2009 Toyota Camry, the State Patrol stated.
The Camry’s driver, Diana Rojas Martinez, 18 of Minneapolis, and her passenger, Christopher Jahmar Bunyan, 19, of Minneapolis, each died on the scene. The pair have been associates, State Patrol Lt. Tiffani Nielson stated.
“It is horrible that their households need to undergo this,” Nielson stated.
Each the teenagers have been sporting seat belts. Tran was not, in accordance with the State Patrol.
Tran was critically injured within the crash and was taken to North Memorial Medical Middle in Robbinsdale, Nielson stated. She added that it is believed he had been consuming alcohol, and blood was taken from him Tuesday morning for testing.
