$1M in funding announced for grow farm-to-school programs in NY

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo introduced $1 million in funding is obtainable for develop farm-to-faculty packages throughout the state.

The governor’s workplace says this system helps faculty districts join with the state’s growers and serve extra native meals in faculties.

Tasks eligible for grant funding throughout New York’s faculty districts might embrace:

  • Using of an area or regional farm to high school coordinator;
  • Coaching packages for meals service employees to extend information of native procurement and preparation of regionally produced meals;
  • Buy of kit wanted to extend capability of faculty kitchen and meals service employees to organize and serve regionally produced meals; and
  • Capital enhancements to help the transport and/or storage of regionally produced meals.
