Deputy Craig Dean Salhus was responding from Garrison to a name in Turtle Lake at 12:20 p.m. and touring east on North Dakota Freeway 37 in his 2010 Ford Expedition patrol car. His emergency lights have been activated and he was within the means of crossing U.S. Route eighty three when the Expedition struck a northbound Ford F350 pushed by Charles Allen Schollmeyer.
